Nicole Czapinski is an interdisciplinary artist originally from Pittsburgh, PA and currently lives in the tiny town of San Martin, CA. By employing the simplest of materials, Czapinski’s work evokes natural phenomena and conjures the intangible through photo collages, videos, sculptures, and three-dimensional thread drawings. Since receiving a BA from Bennington College, VT in 2006, her work has been displayed in galleries across the country. Nicole has enjoyed solo exhibitions at the The Westmoreland Museum of American Art (PA), Burlington City Arts (VT), Silver Eye Center for Photography (PA), and the Vermont Studio Center (VT). Her work has also been featured in numerous group exhibitions, including the Pittsburgh Biennial (PA); Northern Illinois University Art Museum (IL); Lorimoto Gallery (NY); and Southern Exposure (CA). From 2016 - 2018 she was a Staff Artist-In-Residence at the Vermont Studio Center. She opened a collaborative exhibition with Centa Schumacher at Associated Artists of Pittsburgh in September 2023 that traveled to Seton Hill University in September 2024. Most recently her work was acquired by the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in Ligonier, PA for their permanent collection. Her work is also included in numerous private collections.
